Curious about composting? Join our free community workshop to learn how to reduce waste and create nutrient-rich compost for your garden!
Are you curious about the incredible benefits of composting? Do you want to reduce your household waste, enrich your garden soil, and contribute to a more sustainable community? Look no further! Thorncliffe Park Urban Farmers are thrilled to invite you to our hands-on Composting Workshop, a free community event designed for everyone, from absolute beginners to seasoned gardeners.
This engaging workshop will demystify the composting process, transforming what might seem complex into an easy and accessible practice. Held at the vibrant community garden behind 53 Thorncliffe Park Drive in Toronto, Ontario, this is your chance to learn directly from experienced urban farmers.
This workshop is open to everyone! Whether you're a complete novice with a budding interest in sustainability, an experienced gardener looking to refine your composting skills, or simply someone who wants to make a positive impact on the environment, you are welcome. There’s no need for prior gardening or composting experience – we’ll cover all the basics in a friendly and supportive environment.
As the workshop will take place outdoors at the community garden, we highly recommend dressing appropriately for the weather. Bring a hat, sunscreen, water, and comfortable shoes. While you don't need to bring your own compost to participate, feel free to bring any organic waste you'd like to drop off for the community compost pile – it's a great way to contribute and see the process in action!
Composting is more than just turning waste into soil; it's a powerful tool for environmental stewardship. By diverting organic materials from landfills, you reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create a valuable resource that enhances soil health, reduces the need for chemical fertilizers, and supports a vibrant ecosystem. This workshop empowers you to take a tangible step towards a greener lifestyle.
Join us for an inspiring morning of learning, community building, and practical skills that will benefit both your garden and the planet. We look forward to seeing you there!
