Discover the Wonder of Nature at Downsview Park!
Join us for an enchanting and FREE caregiver and toddler nature program, the "Jr. Forest Explorers," at the beautiful Downsview Park. This engaging program is designed to get those little hands wonderfully dirty as your child connects with the natural world through hands-on outdoor activities. It's a perfect opportunity for young adventurers and their caregivers to explore, learn, and play in a stimulating natural environment.
Program Focus: Nature Play
At the heart of our program is Nature Play, where imagination, exploration, and boundless fun come alive. We believe in fostering creativity and curiosity by combining both natural and human-made loose parts. Children will have the chance to interact with elements like sticks, leaves, stones, water, sand, and various safe, open-ended materials. This unique blend allows for imaginative construction, sensory exploration, and problem-solving, all culminating in an exciting forest adventure tailored for our youngest participants. Think mud kitchens, building mini-shelters, creating nature art, and discovering the wonders of the forest floor – every session promises new discoveries and joyful interactions.
Who Can Join?
This program is specifically intended for children aged 18 months to 3.5 years of age (pre-kindergarten). We warmly welcome children under 18 months to attend, but please be aware that the activities and developmental focus are primarily geared towards the 18-month to 3.5-year age group. Older siblings, up to age five, are also welcome to join in the fun! This carefully chosen age range helps us protect our youngest visitors and ensures the program remains as engaging and developmentally appropriate as possible for everyone. For families with older children, we highly recommend exploring Downsview Park’s Nature Connection program, which offers activities suited for a different age range.
Registration Essentials
Registration is absolutely required for all attendees – both children and accompanying caregivers. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone, please make sure to register for each session separately. When requesting tickets, indicate the total number of people attending (e.g., one adult and one child). The registration form will provide specific fields for you to specify the number of children and adults in your group. It is crucial that you do not bring more people than you have signed up for without first checking with our dedicated team. This helps us manage group sizes and maintain a high-quality, safe experience for all participants.
Important Notes for Your Visit
- Pets: To ensure the safety and comfort of all participants, pets are not permitted at this program. However, certified service animals are always welcome.
- Group Bookings: Please note that this program is designed for individuals and families. Organized groups, such as daycares or school trips, should refer to our website to book a separate, tailored program suitable for larger groups.
